{"id":119,"date":"2015-01-20T15:26:50","date_gmt":"2015-01-20T20:26:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.greatwalltogreatlakes.com\/?p=119"},"modified":"2015-01-20T15:26:50","modified_gmt":"2015-01-20T20:26:50","slug":"a-little-of-this-a-little-of-that","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.greatwalltogreatlakes.com\/index.php\/2015\/01\/20\/a-little-of-this-a-little-of-that\/","title":{"rendered":"A little of this, a little of that&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi friends!\u00a0 No big news to share, but I wanted to do a quick update that includes a few different pieces of this adoption puzzle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where we are now:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our dossier is currently in the hands of the China Consulate in New York City.\u00a0 This is the first time since we started this process that our dossier has been mailed anywhere (we just walked it in to all the other places), so it\u2019s a weird feeling not to have it close by.\u00a0 Currently the wait time for processing is 6-8 business days, so we should have it back by the first week of February.\u00a0 Then, it\u2019s on to critical review with our agency (about 9-11 business days) and then on to China where we should get an official Log in Date within about 5-7 days.\u00a0 The end is in sight!\u00a0 I look back over the last 6 months and am blown away by how much we accomplished in that time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Telling people about Jia:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I thought maybe some of you would be interested in how we told people we were matched.\u00a0 We got matched a lot sooner then we expected so we didn\u2019t have a lot of time to think about how to announce the news to Eden, our parents and siblings, but I think we did okay.\u00a0 We printed out sheets of paper that looked like this, but personalized them for each person,<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/www.greatwalltogreatlakes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/WP_20141225_11_21_16_Pro.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-120 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.greatwalltogreatlakes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/WP_20141225_11_21_16_Pro-168x300.jpg?resize=168%2C300\" alt=\"WP_20141225_11_21_16_Pro\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>And put them in red envelopes and gave them to people as Christmas presents.\u00a0 \u00a0Everyone\u2019s reaction was a little shock mixed with a lot of joy.\u00a0 It was so fun to get to tell people in person and in a special way.<\/p>\n<p>I also wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to all of you who left your excited well wishes on Facebook and elsewhere.\u00a0 Getting to share this experience with all of you has made this process even more special.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s next:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once we have our LID, we wait for our \u201chard\u201d Letter of Approval, and then we start filling out more paperwork that I don\u2019t even know about yet because I think our agency doesn\u2019t want to overwhelm us (too late!!).\u00a0 We will travel 3-6 months after our Log in Date in China so we\u2019re still on target to travel sometime between June and August assuming nothing significant changes.\u00a0 Josh and I both keep having moment of \u201cat this time next year, Jia will be ______\u201d or, my favorite from the other day as we were sitting at lunch \u201choly crap, we\u2019re going to have two kids.\u201d\u00a0 We\u2019ve already starting making plans for the summer with the tentative \u201cwell, we\u2019re not sure when we\u2019re traveling, so we probably can, but\u2026\u201d.\u00a0 I mean, things are getting real, folks!<\/p>\n<p>We are also working on grants and fundraising right now, so more paperwork!\u00a0 We\u2019ll keep you updated as we get fundraisers planned!<\/p>\n<p>So, that\u2019s our update for now.\u00a0 Nothing earth shaking and it\u2019s hard to beat my last post, but I wanted to keep you all in the loop as we wait for our girl to come home!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hi friends!\u00a0 No big news to share, but I wanted to do a quick update that includes a few different pieces of this adoption puzzle.
